Terms of Service

Last updated: 26 August 2026

1. Service Provider & Eligibility

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a legally binding agreement between you and Cobbly, a service operated by RODRIGO SANTOS SOUSA (Empresário em Nome Individual) under the laws of Portugal, who also operates Spawnly. By creating an account you confirm you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms.

Eligibility: you represent that you are at least 18 years of age, or that you are using the Service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms on your behalf.

One account per person. The free tier is rationed per account. Creating additional accounts to obtain more servers or more capacity is a breach of these Terms and of our Acceptable Use Policy.

2. What the Free Service Is

Cobbly provides Minecraft servers at no charge, on shared hardware alongside other free users. This has consequences you are agreeing to:

  • Servers sleep. A server with nobody online is stopped after a short period and its capacity returned to the pool. It restarts when someone tries to join.
  • Capacity is not reserved. When every slot is in use, your server waits in a queue until one frees up.
  • There is no uptime commitment. No service level agreement applies to the free tier, and none of the availability terms of the paid service extend to it.

3. Fair Use & Limits

Published limits apply to every free account: the number of servers, memory, storage, and concurrent players. We may adjust these limits, and may apply lower limits to an individual account where usage is harming other users of the shared hardware.

Free servers are for playing Minecraft. Using one as general-purpose compute, storage, a proxy, or to run anything other than the game software we provide is prohibited under the Acceptable Use Policy.

4. Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate a free account or server at any time, with or without notice, including for breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, for abuse of shared capacity, or where continuing to provide the service is no longer viable for us.

You may delete your servers at any time from the dashboard. Deleting a server is permanent and its world cannot be recovered afterwards.

5. Inactivity & Data Retention

Inactive worlds are deleted. If a server is not started for 60 consecutive days, its world data is permanently deleted. We will email the address on the account at least 30 days beforehand, to the address you registered with. Keeping that address current is your responsibility.

This is how the free tier stays free: storage for worlds nobody plays is the one cost that grows without limit. If you want a world kept indefinitely, download a backup or use the paid service.

6. Advertising

The free tier is funded by advertising. By using the Service you agree that advertisements may be displayed in the dashboard and control panel. Advertisements are never injected into your game server or shown to players connecting to it.

How advertising affects your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. Certain paid Spawnly plans remove advertising from this Service.

7. Your Content

You retain ownership of the worlds, configuration and files you upload. You grant us the limited licence necessary to store, transmit and process that content in order to operate the Service — for example, saving your world to storage and restoring it when your server starts.

You are responsible for the content you host and for the conduct of players you allow onto your server.

8. No Warranty & Limitation of Liability

The free Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or free of data loss.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the free Service is limited to zero, reflecting that no fee is paid for it. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Portuguese or EU law, including liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.

9. Relationship to Spawnly

Cobbly is operated by Spawnly and uses the same account system. An account created here works on Spawnly and vice versa. Terms specific to paid services — billing, refunds and service levels — are set out in the Spawnly terms and apply only if you purchase those services.

10. Changes & Governing Law

We may amend these Terms. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above, and continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of it.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you retain the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
